2 month old not feeding

Hi everyone.

So for the last two weeks my 2 month old wasn't feeding much during the night and even when she wakes she only feeds for a little bit and so my breasts become really engorged the whole night. I was told it's fine because some babies start going longer between night time feeds etc.
However what is worse now is that for a week even her daytime feedings have been reducing and now for a couple of days whenever she cries she only wants to sleep and isn't wanting to feed. Whenever I put her to the breast she just starts smiling or flutter sucking (not actually milk drinking). She latches just for a couple of seconds then unlatches so I keep bringing her back to the breast she stays a few seconds then unlatches again and she does this continuously. My milk keeps leaking everywhere and my breasts feel full because of this and I'm so worried my milk supply will be reducing since she's not demanding the milk by feeding properly at the breast.
The same thing happened with my first at around 2 months until she started going 8 hours without feeding and crying every time I put her to the breast.
I don't understand why this is happening and can't stop crying as I'm so worried and confused and I've been working so hard since the start to create a good milk supply but now her not feeding will start affecting that.

Has anyone had any experience with this and has any advice? Sorry for the rant I'm just so upset.

Keep doing what you’re doing mama. My baby did a similar thing around that age and I was worried he wasn’t getting what he needed but just had to trust that he knew how much he needed. Frequent small feeds are normal especially during growth spurts and they are very sleepy at that age so normal to fall asleep at the breast. Keep offering often and I’m sure it will pass and she will regulate your supply and what she needs

@Lalarosex thank you so much for your reply! I'm so glad to hear it's not something unheard of because I'm reading lots of things online saying that at 9 weeks babies request to feed much more often than usual but that has not been the case for me at all. Quite the opposite actually. It's so hard to just trust that baby knows how much they need.

I would pump milk to relieve engorgement and also keep up supply.

My baby was quite random between 2-4 months. He would feed normally for a few days and nights and then sleep through the night for 2-3 nights! I used to cry by his bassinet as my breasts were so full and painful I couldn't sleep. By the time my supply would regulate after 2 or 3 nights, he would stop sleeping through the night!! So I actually never got to sleep through 😂

I did at some point accept it and had a hand pump by my bed. I did build up a good milk stash for the freezer so I could go out (although I barely ever did 😅)

Are you sure she’s not unwell? Does she still have wet nappies? I only ask because my 1 month old was unwell and the only sign was not nursing much and sleeping a lot. I would always get a medical opinion if worried.

@SunshineIdiot789 yes I feel the most discomfort at night too! Daytime they feel super full sometimes but still not as painful as night time 😂 yesterday I started using a haakaa for times when I'm feeling very full. Were you using the hand pump just for the moments you felt full or pumping on a regular basis?

@Whatev3r just to relieve pressure. The problem with pumping is that it obviously keeps your supply up and I wanted to get to a point where I could get some sleep. Baby was just tricking me each time 😂

Check baby is gaining weight. One of mine was a bit jaundiced and kept falling asleep and not really feeding. I had to keep waking them up to make sure they were feeding. It might not be that at all but strange that they don't want to eat.
