I have left my Daktarin cream at my friend's house. Can I use Clotrimazole (Cannestan) on my nipples instead? Do I have to wash it off before DS feeds?

I have read in previous posts of others using cannestan and I think i read that they had washed it off before feeding.

bunnyrabbit · 19/05/2008 16:49

Helgicita, do you know if that's with soap, or just wipe off the excess?

You would need to wash it off very, very thoroughly:

www.netdoctor.co.uk/medicines/100000442.html

"If you do use this medicine while breastfeeding you should not apply it to the breasts before giving a feed, to avoid it being accidentally ingested by the nursing infant."

Canesten cream twice a day. wipe excess off before feed.

scorpio1 · 19/05/2008 16:57

dont use soap on your breasts will make it worse.

errr now I'm confused..... do I need to wash it off or not?

yes, me!

just wipe the excess off, with piece of muslin or something. dont use soap will dry them out and make symptoms worse.

go to chemist and buy daktarin over the counter

bunnyrabbit · 19/05/2008 22:16

Thanks Scorpio... sorry panicked!!

DH drove to my friend's house and retrieved it for me.

Liz79, didn't realise you could buy it over the counter. Will note this for next time I decide to leave it somewhere!!!
