Allergy poop? Photo attached (sorry!)

My 16 week old has horrendous colic and reflux from week 3-8. Lots of projectile vomiting, screaming in pain, struggling to poop etc.

Several cranial osteopath sessions and cutting out dairy seemed to have helped and he was a lot happier as I assumed maybe CMPA. We actually now get lots of comments on how happy he is, which is a world of difference!

Our GP is useless tbh, but after two months of pushing, we’ve got a dietitian appointment but the backlog is 6 months.

I’ve tried reintroducing dairy but cooked into things and we aren’t getting rashes or screaming pain but his nappies aren’t fantastic (although, they’ve never been great tbh!).

As my GP won’t look at the lovely poop pics to confirm if it is an allergy, can someone advise?

Thank you!

Think you got this wrong.

You can get a CMPA through breastmilk or formula?

CMPA is very stressful to deal with so i don't mean to be harsh but why would you reintroduce dairy in your diet? My baby has CMPA and paedetrician advised to wait until 6 months to even attempt to reintroduce dairy and soy in my diet.

Dairy allergy causes their little gut to inflame and dairy protein builds up in their system so, while you may be ok-ish for a few days or weeks by having some here and there, you are 1) setting yourself up for a massive sudden reaction and 2) you may or may not be further damaging his gut.

You CAN do a dairy challenge once you are completely dairy free for a few months. And the way to do it is to have some proper amounts of dairy in a day and see if there is a reaction (see my comment above about it building up otherwise) but you've missed that boat now. Cut it out completely and either give him dairy directly at 6 months (3 days in a row) or wait to speak to a dietician.

There are some good Facebook support groups for CMPA. Good luck!!!

Thanks for your response!

I went dairy free for 8 weeks and tried dairy as the GP mentioned reintroducing after 6 weeks and seeing if he has the same reaction.

As I mentioned, the GP hasn’t been great and still have 4-6 weeks until I hear from the dietitian.

As we aren’t getting it the rashes or constant crying, it seems to be improving but his nappies are what are throwing me off. Not entirely sure if they’re normal.

We had similar nappies at a similar stage. Neither feeding specialist nor GP was worried. I wondered about CMPA and the GP advised would need to be 8 weeks complete elimination and then reintroduction to confirm.

Since it was v difficult to do that and get the right nutrients and avoid UPFs, I started eating dairy again. He grew out of these poos and any digestive discomfort. No reaction to dairy when weaned.

In short, as far as I understand those poos don't look unusual.

I’ve looked at so many things, that I don’t know what’s normal anymore 😂 Sadly, the GP won’t even look at the many lovely photos of his nappies, unless there is blood. I just want some kind of guidance and reassurance.

The lack of rashes and discomfort are massive positives, so I want to feel confident that it isn’t CMPA, but wary that I’m not correct and causing damage to his gut.

Really hoping we can see the dietitian before we start weaning as that will give some clarity.
