My baby and I are often out and about during the day and I used to mix formula and feed him while out. We've started weaning 4 weeks ago and I feel a bit stuck at home since...What are the best hacks to feed solids when not at home? Is it a timing thing, do you warm pre-cooked meals while out, or are there good cold alternatives to feed? He gets a bottle at 8am, then a cooked meal at 11.30am followed by a bottle, then another bottle at 4pm, a cooked meal at 6.30pm and a bottle at 8pm. I'm looking for ways to not have to be at home with him for the 11.30am meal.

I was mostly out and sharing my lunch at that age. Soup and bread, jacket potatoes with tuna, omlettes, that sort of thing. If you are out and not wanting to get home particularly what sort of thing would you usually have for lunch?

For myself I usually skip lunch or if I get hungry, grab a sandwich but these options aren't really baby friendly...I'm still quite careful with what I feed and he's on purees. This limits my options for feeding outside at this stage (probably easier when he is 10+ months), but I'm thinking whether there are ways to warm pre-cooked food outside or if there are good cold food alternatives for this age.

@Cinai2 I often took an avocado and banana, baby would have these together mashed with a fork. Or a small thermos/baby flask. I'd pre warm it with boiling water, heat food so it was piping hot and then put in flask. It stays warm for a good few hours.

Thanks @Carshoppingnightmare these are good ideas

I have the opposite problem as mine is so distracted, he won't breastfeed in public since he was 5 months so weaning has been a blessing!

Ocasionally, the Ella's kitchen stuff is great. I squeeze straight into a spoon, so no need for a bowl etc.

Other times I take his food in a little plastic tupperware. I don't warm it, just serve it room temperature.

I found early weaning very tying too - between the meal and the clean up it seemed like even if we did go out I just spent the whole time feeding the baby!
It got easier after a month or so

Have you tried baby on cold purees? Mine seemed to be perfectly happy to have her horrible gloop cold.

Bananas are fantastic on the go finger foods, as are baby-friendly muffins (mine likes broccoli and cheese ones)

If you are in a cafe then baked beans ( maybe smashed up a bit) is an easy one. I would give tiny sandwiches at that age, bits of omelette or boiled egg. Bread sticks and hummus ?
