What will happen to my supply if I don’t feed/express on my 2 working days?

I plan to breastfeed as normal on the other days I’m not at work
my work days will be 8-5

Due to many factors it’s not really realistic that I’ll be able to take time to pump and even if I do, my pump just doesn’t really produce anything..

my baby is 6 months and feeding 5x in the day and 2-3 overnight

You’re likely to reduce your milk supply and might end up having to give some bottles of formula during the day, maybe 2x daytime bottles and breastfeeding the rest of the time.
I would be more worried about your boobs though- you’re risking blocked ducts and mastitis not feeding for that long, and it’s likely to be uncomfortable at least at first.
Can’t you just express once during the day at work? If you’re in the UK they have to legally allow you extra breaks to express, and provide a suitable space.

I found baby just fed all night to make up for it but I coslept so not too much of an issue. I used to do a quick feed at nursery/child minder before attempting to get home until about 9 months. Two of mine were bottle refusers and they were ebf at the start. Poor nursery staff desperately tried to feed with various types of teat but my youngest especially was determined to wait. My breasts were engorged by the end of the day but no blocked ducts or anything.

I did pretty much what you’re planning but from 9 months.

Supply was just fine on the non-working days but I would just talk through your plans with a BFC on one of the BFing Helplines.

She can talk to you about your return to work plans and if it’s likely to affect your supply Smile
