I think she is aiming her campaign at the young mums who don't even consider that bfing is an option for them, rather than those who have tried and can't.

I think she is doing a good job, and if she gives someone the confidence to try bfing when they would not have otherwise, then good for her.

The ABM should take her on as a patron

Surely the best way to help women who do not think of breastfeeding as an option to start seeing at as option and maybe try it is to be understanding of the issues surrounding it?
I think she could do great, btu she needs educating first, then and only then should she be allowed to speak about it or she may do more harm than good.

I don't think it matters whether she says exactly the 'right' thing or not. She is hugely popular and loved in a very economically depressed area where breastfeeding rates are terribly low. Just doing it and being positive about it herself might make a huge difference to some young women.

Sorry, but I think if she goes round saying she 'can't understand why people bottlefeed' she will make a lot of women who have already FF think she is preaching, which won't get her anywhere.
I agree some people may listen to ehr but if she wants to do as much good as she can she should learn about what it is that stops people BFing and aim to conquer the myths as well as encourage new mums that really feel it's not for them.

The quote at the top may well be a paraphrasing

I'm sure she said something quite similar when Ruby was born about how everyone should breastfeed or something, but I can't be 100%.
I just hope she does the good she is possible of doing, I like her, but the amount of threads I've seen on here kick off because of someone wrongly wording the OP, or w/e just shows how careful people need to be when talking about it.

she's a young woman, well known for saying what she thinks. if she can't understand why people don't bf then fair enough, that's her opinion, imo.

i don't really understand why more people don't give it a shot myself (medical stuff permitting) but because i don't have a public profile etc you have no idea of the context behind my saying that and i'm more likely to cause offence, iykwim?

she's charlotte church, a young woman who talks about 'cheeky vimtos' and has had her share of crappy boyfriends, i think most people will know where she's coming from and if it's that age has yet to teach her to think of all the consequences of everything that she says then i find that quite refreshing.

but i don't know why she agreed to wear that most unflattering safari suit in the virgin ad, though. youth again, perhaps?

Something else I noticed whilst googling her actually was the cosleeping thing, great, I'm really pleased she has found it works for her, but I fear it's something that hasn't been talked about much properly and worry that people will read 'cc sleeps in ebd with ehr baby' in OK or whereever and do it themselves without taking into consideration the quilts/pillows/smoking/drugs/drinking issues and could do more harm than good.

Now this could, again be down to the magazines/journos instead of CC, for all we know she could have told them to check out the guidelines from unicef before trying it, but the really important points haven't been put into print.

I lurve CC - really do. I almost cried while standing in Sainsbury's looking at her new mum pictures in Hello magazine a few months ago - she was just so glowing and gorgeous. The epitome of a beautiful new mum.

And good for her bigging up breastfeeding.

I don't think it's a problem what she said about 'not understanding why women don't breastfeed'.

Most women in this country have absorbed the fact that bf can be challenging more than they've absorbed the fact that it's really worthwhile.
