Hi. My LO (4 weeks) has been a gassy baby since he was born. We have been taking him to a chiropractor who identified several issues (tongue tie - now corrected; umbilical cord hernia; huge amounts of tension in neck etc). He is exclusively formula fed (Kendamil). He also developed a rash on 14/02 which I initially thought was baby acne.
Unfortunately in the last week we have had episodes of screaming in the evenings. He is inconsolable, goes rigid and screams. He wants milk intermittently and then will scream after this, arching his back, despite us paced feeding upright and burping him frequently. Over the weekend we ended up calling 111 as he was screaming for hours, his skin was mottled and we couldn’t soothe him. they sent an ambulance and we ended up in A&E. The doctor there prescribed a week of omeprazole but we are waiting for the oral suspension to come into the pharmacy. I’m a bit reluctant to put him on this and am wondering if he has CMPA instead.
His rash gets worse during feeds, he screams only in evenings, but his poo seems relatively normal and he is putting on weight well. We had a check with the chiropractor yesterday and she suggested it is a CMPA based on his skin and his digestive discomfort. She suggested we buy Aptamil Pepti 1 and try that.
Has anyone had similar issues- ie a seemingly mild CMPA? Do we try Pepti first before Omeprazole?
I am exhausted and have been so worried about him. He was born with the cord around his neck 3x and there seem to just be ongoing issues one after the other.
