Night feeds - one night 1 one night 2

Hi!

my 6 month old started to sleep approx 7:30-12 (feed 1 here) then 12-5 (feed 2), he was getting less and less from the 2nd feed as in 60mls of milk back to sleep.. so we tried dropping it which seemed ok for a couple nights.

One night did 12-6:45.

However now he does not settle at all from approx 4:30, as in we go back and fourth for over and hour (he clearly does want to be asleep but keeps waking), do we re introduce this feed? Is this going backwards? And if hes so hit and miss on what he takes at that feed how do we know hes ready to drop it?!

All the others have been pretty straight forward, i.e less than 60mls, got rid and soothed back to sleep couple nights and then it sticks.

any help from anyone with a similar situation would be great!

thank you😊

My 6 month old is also at the moment feeding like this - wakes for a feed about 1am, and then between 5.30-6am (and goes back to sleep for a bit after). I'm just rolling with it for now and seeing how it goes. I figure eventually (hopefully!) that second feed will be pushed back to the morning morning so it will be one wake which is (imo) pretty good for a 6 month old.

The early morning is often the hardest. They are the least tired and the longest since food, so can be harder to get back to sleep. (Adults are often the same, if I'm woken at 5am I struggle more to get back to sleep). Personally I prioritise overall sleep, so I would probably give a feed then, in order to get him to sleep for a few more hours. However he is 6m and doesn't NEED a feed, so it would be reasonable to persist now you have started if that's what you prefer.
