Bottler Aversion

3 month old DD

Initial weight loss of 13%
Then went on to exclusively pumping and formula so I knew what she was getting.
I’m making sure that she gets 28oz a day at 3 months.
Obsessed with a 3 hourly schedule. Maybe because of her initial weight loss and having to do things on a 3 hourly schedule?
Not sure why but scared that she will lose weight again?
She sleeps through the night so I feel like I need to get that amount in 12 hours.
I didn’t know bottle aversion was a thing! Now I feel like I’ve created one.
Her sibling was a milk monster, cried for milk constantly so not used to this.
She doesn’t even wake up and cry for milk.
Help me!

PS prefer not to do Rowena method if possible.

Why do you think she has bottle aversion? She seems to be drinking enough milk? That seems like a decent amount for 3 months. My ds is 4 months and has a little more than that but barely. His older brother had a lot more. It's obviously enough if she's sleeping all night. Every 3 hours in the day seems fine if she's getting that in total. Appetites vary just like with adults

Because she starts crying everytime I bring a bottle to her mouth.

Oh you didn't mention that in your initial post though. Could be reflux? Have you got a health visitor you can speak with?

lostwithyou · 23/02/2025 09:42

Sorry I probably should have. Definitely not reflux. I can put her down after a feed, no other symptoms except crying at the bottle. I’ve been force feeding her I think as anxiety about how much she’s eating because of the initial problems

Are you pushing the bottle into the baby's mouth when she's asleep at night? If you are, that's more likely to be what's making her cry. You're probably frightening her. Leave her be!

My baby slept through from the start. Health Visitor told me I should be waking her to feed her throughout the night. So I got up, tried to give her milk but she wasn't interested and got upset. I never got up again!

She drank gallons of milk during the day and weight gain was never a problem. Some babies just like to sleep at night. Which is a good thing! Bonkers to teach her to wake up if she doesn't want to and has no weight gain issues.

No she sleep through the night. I push the bottle in through the day to get her to eat a certain amount everyday. I think that’s what caused the aversion. I also try to make her finish the bottle.
my first was a milk monster so I think I was a-bit naive that an aversion could happen.
