Confused about mixing formula… says it has to be over 70degrees … is adding formula to a freshly boiled kettle okay ? I checked the temp it’s 89.9 degrees and then stared to come back down

A study of 70 !! Perfect Prep machines are widely sold and successfully used. If they were dangerous they would be removed from sale.

People make their own decisions. My sil tested her PP machine after reading the problems (which predate this study and the NHS have been warning against them for quite a long time) and hers didn't get to temp either.

Things being on sale doesn't mean they're safe. Cot bumpers as mentioned, food aimed at babies below the recommended weaning age, cigarettes, alcohol, UPFs, vapes, log burners and on and on and on.

You make a decision based on the available information. There's nothing wrong with sharing that information. People do get very emotional - understandably - where their babies are concerned but it's nothing to do with guilt or shame.

Perfect Prep isn't as perfect as it should be sadly.

Most people I know do their own hot shot and add cool boiled water or they batch make for the day and put them in the back of the fridge.

I’m pretty sure the fridge thing is against guidelines. But that goes back to my pointy no one followed the rules completely!

Best thing I got was nuby rapid cool, get a flask, fill it up, when ready to make a bottle fill up the bottle to whatever ounce you need, pour about 2 oz into the lid put the rest in the rapid cool and use the cap Water in the bottle to mix the powder, when rapid cool is done, literally 2 minutes pour it in,
Give it a swirl bottle done in 3 minutes

TT perfect prep, gives you a hot shot to kill any bacteria, then adds a cold shot to bring it to the perfect temp for baby to drink. You can adjust the size of the feed and the water is filtered too. Saves so much hassle

Can't speak for everyone people swear by it but it hurt by DD's belly.

I use a thermometer. I boil the water, add it to the bottle immediately and put the whole thing in a pot with cold water to cool the water down. that takes 5 mins until the temp is 70-73 degrees (i read somewhere that anywhere between 70-73 degrees is recommended), add formula and shake and then back in the pot to cool down to drinking temp. this process takes me less than 10 mins. i have a prep machine but i heard all sorts about that too. i also have a nuby rapid cooler, but when i dont use that very often

I made a batch with boiling water and put in fridge to cool, then warmed gently with bottle warmer when needed.

I could only cope by using instant formula.

I agree, once you get into a routine, it becomes much easier. I found that prepping bottles in advance for the day helped a lot, especially during those sleepless nights! @block blast
