Day feed Routine of 6 week old

Hi mums can anyone give me what their day routine was with newborn.
6 week old baby currently waking her 3 hours in the day to feed and not waking her at night.
I get conflicting advice to not wake her during the day to feed and just wait until she wakens.

I refuse to wake her at night as she’s putting on weight and sleeps 6 hours at night - have done this since leaving the hospital.

Baby will tell you when hungry don't worry x
I stressed way too much in those early days, baby always put on weight and plenty of wet and dirty nappy's.
Enjoy the rest as it will change into every hour soon!! I hope it doesn't but my baby would go from one extreme to the other when growth spurts came on, cluster feeding.

enjoy the rest mama, it's you and your baby don't let anyone make you doubt yourself x
weight gain & nappy's and your doing just fine :)

I breastfed on demand and never woke mine to feed as they were born healthy, at full term, and gaining weight well.

Sorry OP, but this doesn't apply to newborns. It can be very dangerous to not feed during the night. For older babies I'd say don't stress. But for newborns this isn't the case. Not feeding at night with such a young baby can cause low blood sugars, dehydration too as their stomachs are so tiny at this age.

I'd do a dream feed, and one feed in the night.

My midwife told me it was fine for a full term baby who was born at a good weight and with no health issues.

I have 5 young children and never had to wake to feed them, and they were all good sleepers so often didn't wake to feed at night. They wake if they're hungry, and if your little one is a good weight, of good health, add producing wet nappies, then I wouldn't worry too much. You can always try a dream feed.

You're doing really well Flowers

I wouldn’t wake a full term infant who is sleeping six hours overnight.

At this point OP wang a boob or bottle at baby on demand. They’ll settle into a pattern in time.

I woke mine every 3 hours during the day and let them sleep at night.

They slept 7-7 from 8 weeks, 6 weeks & 6 weeks. Born full term with no weight gain issues, there's no need to wake them in the night.

For a healthy, term baby with no concerns who is gaining weight then it is all about what they have in 24hrs rather than being strict about timings. This may help to alleviate concerns about how often you wake them.

On average a baby who is bottle fed formula milk will feed 6-8 times in 24hrs. A breastfed baby will feed 8-12 times in 24hrs.

Feeding every 3 hours in the set and not waking at night sounds pretty perfect. I woukd t be trying to alter that routine Wink

This isn't true. They don't have the glycogen stores in the liver until at least 6 weeks to be able to maintain blood sugars for 6 hours and more
