6 months old not interested in food

My baby just turned 6 months and she is able to hold her head up however she is not interested in food. I've tried purées and baby led weaning. She doesn't even look at the food. She's more interested in looking at me and what's around her. Should I delay starting solids till she shows interest or should I keep giving her foods?

Mine was the same. Stop for now and try again in a week or so. They change so fast at that age. Maybe let her see you eating in the meantime?

DD was the same! I gave her a few puréed veg, some mixed with breast milk (not sure why?!) and she tried a bit, gagged like mad and just wasn’t fussed. I left it completely for s couple of days then gave her a hunk of narly wholemeal bread and some cucumber and didn’t suggest she ate them, just popped them down and waited. She went to town. It took ages to get her on anything resembling a meal. Once your baby is 6 months everyone starts asking if they’re on 3 meals a day and I wanted to scream.

By the time she was 1 she was polishing off curries, stews, roasts dinners, every single fruit or veg you can think of and at 5 she’s a fantastic eater. Try to not to worry, though I know you probably will, it’s completely normal. She’ll get there. I really loathed every aspect of weaning, it was stressful, messy, I worried about gagging, choking, allergies, I worried a lot.

DS was completely different and took to solids with gusto but as many if not more babies are like your DD and mine. You’re doing great.

Still waiting for my 3 year old to be interested in food. However my baby doesn't stop eating. I wouldn't worry at this point. Give it a break and try in a few days

For my youngest mixing purées with breast milk (or their usual milk!!) helped as it is a familiar taste to them. Took her a month to get interested!

Update: I gave her a break from solids for a couple days. When I started weaning again she was more interested and also ate more

My oldest wasn’t interested in food until he was two. My middle child lunged forward and took a chip off my plate at 5 months old! Later that day he decided a bourbon biscuit was a suitable weaning food.

they are now 23 and 20, both strong and healthy.
