Vacuum packing powder formula?

First time mama here! We are going on a 3 week trip to the other side of the world
from the uk. Baby girl was prem and colicky etc etc so we settled on Kendamil which is best for her tummy. I’ve looked and I don’t think I can buy it there (and even if I could find a stockist…The supply chain is so awful for kendamil I wouldn’t trust it was available). So we will have to take it with. Has anyone vacuum packed powder formula to take up less space in the suitcase? I think taking tins of it is going to be a nightmare!! Is this a really stupid idea? We tried switching to a more generic world wide brand but it really didn’t agree with her. Help/advice from mamas who are more experienced and travelled with formula fed babies gratefully received!!

I’m not sure it would measure correctly when you then did the scoops if all the air had been sucked out. Have you checked what the luggage allowance is for your little one for the flight? We did a 2 week holiday and took 36 bottles of ready to feed (18 of which in hand luggage) then tins of powder in each case. If you can I would take RTF Kendamil for the flight, much easier than faffing with water, rapid cools etc

Taking it out of the packaging is really bad ideas. Just pay the extra baggage fee and take it in tins. It's not worth the risk.

Also re finding Kendamil abroad, it’s possible but stressful. We went to the states, it’s stocked in a few places like Target, but was out of stock. We got through more than I had thought we would as I was still combi feeding at the time and baby went on nursing strike, so I would say always pack more and be prepared for the unexpected

That’s so much for taking the time to reply. Will not be vacuum packing it now! :)

Just think for a minute - you want to take bags of white powder in your suitcase through customs?

I've heard of people ordering baby formula to the airside Boots or similar shop, so they can take it on as extra hand luggage. Might be helpful?

Yeah probably best not to take vacuum packs of a large volume of white powder through an airport 🤣.
They could test it and obviously it would come up fine but then the vacuum packs would be opened and contaminated so no use anyway.

Ahhh thank you! Hadn’t thought about the vacuum powder look from that point of view!! 😂

Just take it. It’s actually not that much. About a tin a week?

So put 1 tin plus some ready to feed in handluggage for travel. Pack 3 tins in suitcase.
As you use up you will gain space to bring back stuff you get over there so win win

You can take formula through in tins. There's no restrictions.

You can also click and collect from boots when you're through security.
