Thinking about using this for my newborn but by using the hot shot method. Would you say for a 3 oz bottle to do a 1oz hot shot and 2oz into the rapid cool?

Why wouldn't you just use it as it's intended? That's how it's been safety assessed.

Because that involves sterilising each time, I’m thinking about night feeds. If you haven’t got any suggestions please refrain from commenting on posts 🙂

I (well, my DH) used it for night feeds. It's super easy to use as per instructions. A quick wash and a cycle in a UV steriliser. We had a couple of them in case another bottle might be needed before the first one had properly cooled, but again that was no trouble and the cooldown cycle would apply to both scenarios.

We personally didn't use a rapid-cool but we used the hot shot method for my DS from a few weeks old and quite a few friends did this too.

You should be fine using the hot shot method with the rapid cool. Mix the boiling water with the formula, then use the rapid cool for the remainder of water and mix this in.

There are many opinions and options on how to do formula perfectly but in the midst of making many many bottles a day you need to do what is safe and what is right for your family.

(We also had a prep machine which is frowned upon by some but I wouldn't have been able to live without it).

And to answer your question which I apparently ignored yes for a 4oz bottle. 1oz of hotshot and 3 oz of cool water. Just make sure the formula is all covered when you shake.
