Question about changing formula milk.

I have always fed my children Aptamil, This is the closest thing to breast milk (as the ads state etc). I 've never had a problem. But, my 3.5 month old daughter has developed bad excema all over her body, she has had it for a few weeks and after apply emolient to her skin it has got worse. I took her to the G.P. today and she has prescribed her Oilatum but mentioned it might be worth trying to change brand of milk. She didn't think she is allergic to cows milk, (which is what I believe formula to contain) but she said it might be worth a try and to have a think about it.
Like I say I have always fed them Aptamil so I don't know what alternative to use, I looked in Boots and saw Farleys, SMA, Cow and Gate and have left knowing none the wiser.
She didnt see the need to change to soya? milk,

Advice please

shiny - if your GP has ruled out cows milk allergy, then there is no case for switching to soya milk.

All standard formula is based on cows milk, and there is virtually no difference between the brands - despite what the ads would have you believe. Aptamil is no closer to breastmilk than any other brands (who also claim they are closer to to breastmilk.....) and all brands have to satisfy legal requirements in terms of content.

Having said that, sometimes babies do react differently, or appear to react differently, to different brands - maybe some slight difference in the formulation has this effect, or maybe it's just chance.

You can swap milks without worrying, though.

Perhaps your HV can help you.
