Infant feeding

feeding laying down- for those large of nork

Right i am bf twin dd's 3mo, milk supply is abundant so norks are the size of zeppelins most of the time, trying to work out the logistics of feeding laying down without either smothering poor child or contorting myself and nork in unimaginable ways!

i fed dd laying down quite successfully (soon learnt the art of co-sleeping with nork exposed- dd used self-service and i had no more interupted sleep ) but my boobs are so much bigger this time, all my usual tricks have failed.

I need suggestions please!

Difficult to say when we don't know what your usual tricks are. Personally I'd call in a breastfeeding counsellor to help with that one. In case you don't know how to locate one, google NCT, Breastfeeding Network, Association of Breastfeeding Mothers, La Leche League or any other bf organisation you may have heard of.

Do not rely on your hv. Congrats on having twins and bf-ing them so far.

First of all, kick your DP out of the bed, it makes it so much easier!
I am a FF/G cup so fairly large of nork, I put DH's pillows behind me and then latch DD on on the other side while holding boob, then I can pull the pillows away until I can lie comfortably, I normally end up mostly on my back with boob (and baby) in my armpit.

Not sure how you would work it with 2 in the bed though.....

My bfc told me to try bf'ing from the upper breast. I'd have never thought of that myself!

Congratulations!

I couldn't BF easily lying down until my son was 4 months so their size has something to do with it.

Keep BF bra on and only undo one cup at a time?

I second getting La Leche League or NCT BF counsellor in to help.

Would/could an NHS bfc do a home visit?
