Breastfeeding advice

Hello, I had my beautiful baby girl on Friday. It's been ten years since my last baby so I'm a bit rusty!
I'm exclusively breastfeeding and today my milk came in properly. My main reason for this post is that for the last hour or two I have had shooting throbbing pains in both breasts at different times. Is this normal?

Also, is there anything I can do to keep my supply up? Any other tips?

Thank you :)

Yes, it’s the let down reflex 😊 mine feels a bit like electric shocks!

@Dogwithtoebeans thank you so much for replying, that's a huge relief to hear that! I'll research it now :)

Is baby feeding plenty? It may just been that baby needs a couloir of good feeds.

Congratulations on your new LO Flowers

@PolaroidPrincess thank you for your reply! Yes she feeds incredibly well, I'm so relieved as feeding my first was very difficult, but this one feeds like a dream with lots of wet nappies to show for it☺️
Thank you so much 🥰

That's so good. How are the pains now?

I'd suggest you keep feeding regularly for your supply, whenever baby feeds it's a sign am to produce more milk and the first 6 weeks are SO important. I didn't go more than 3 hours between feeds and haven't had any supply issues ow at 5 months. I pumped a tiny bit in the evenings but didn't really pump to increase supply.

@MrsTeepee thank you for your advice, that's really helpful to know :)

This is a pretty good article on what to expect Wink

Just make sure to wake them up for a feed every 3-4 hours, never longer in thoose first few weeks and your supply will be grand. Shooting pains is the let down. Good luck and congratulations
