Stopping breastfeeding advice

My daughter has just turnt one and I want to now stop breastfeeding. It's now 4pm and I haven't breastfed her since around 5am. She's surprisingly been ok and not too fussed, normally she would have fed four times by now I think she was using me as a dummy rather then bher being hungry. Anyways my boobs are in agony, when should things start slowing down and easing? I plan to still breastfed her before bed and during the night if she wants. Does this sound ok?

I would definitely feed before bed it it's not too late.

If she's feeding in the night, have you thought of doing some gentle night weaning before you stop the daytime feeds?

Some people do drop a lot of, or even all of the feeds at once but you do run the risk of Mastitis Wink

I think they advise dropping one feed per week so you don’t get the hormone crash!

So I managed to go all day without feeding her and she was actually fine and not too bothered. I fed her at 6.30om and then again at 7pm before she fell asleep. I wonder how long it will take for my supply to decrease?

We never really had a feeding schedule I just fed on demand. Some days was like 10 times so didn't know where to start.

I had to stop cold turkey at 10 months. I did a couple of days expressing a couple of Oz when I would normally feed, a couple of days of expressing just for comfort when I would normally feed them a few days of only when I needed comfort by this point I was hand expressing. I had been using a manual pump.
You might find that you need to pump once during the day for the next few days for comfort whilst your supply adjusts even if it's just hand expressing into a clean muslin

How was your baby? I’m wanting to stop at 6 months but it’s my baby I’m worried about. Like, will he be sad that he can’t have boob? What did you do to comfort yours when your baby was looking for boob? How long did your baby take to stop looking for boob?? That’s my biggest worry…

She coped remarkably well and never looked for the boob. For the first 2 days I was in hospital and she home with dad. Dad did all the feeds for my weekend leave and then i went back to the hospital with my daughter and she accepted the bottle and it was like she had forgotten about being breastfeed.
It took a week to find alternatives to calm her down and for a few months daddy was more successful at bedtime. We used the sling and the pram a lot to settle her
