Clogged ducts for weeks?

Hi everyone, I need some advice on a clogged duct I've had since 2 weeks postpartum. I'm currently 9 weeks postpartum. At first it was red and painful and I thought I had mastitis but the pain resolved within 2-3 days. But it's still there! It's a big hard lump and nothing I'm doing is working. I've tried heat then feeding, heat then trying to pump it out, endless massages and it won't budge. Baby is sleeping 5-6 hours a night too and it's slowly getting bigger, how do I get rid of this? It's not painful but it's doing my head in. My lactation consultant told me to do massages but they don't make a difference. Sometimes my milk is a little stringy which I've heard is clogged duct milk but it doesn't make a difference to it's size at all.

That's not something I've experienced but Kellymom has this on recurrent blocked ducts.

Are you able to get to a BFing Support Group too this week? They might have some ideas.

Has LO been checked for Tongue Tie too as I think that can be a cause of Blocked Ducts and Mastitis? Flowers

That Kellymom info was very helpful, thank you! I'm gonna try get to a support group tomorrow, I didn't even think of that. LO was checked for a tongue tie and thankfully was all good in that department, I was so worried she was gonna have to get it cut. Thank you for all your help! Hopefully I can sort it out, it's doing my head in!

Glad I could help. Can I just ask who checked for TT? Only if I had £1 for every NNer who has been told it was definitely not TT only to find out later it definitely is, well I'd be very comfortable Wink

My lactation consultant said she had a slight one, so she refered us to our main childrens hospital to get it cut. On observation by the doc he said hers is a normal size and didn't need to be cut! Baby drains the breast well and no nipple pain after the first 3-4 weeks so I don't think it's an issue. Hopefully not anyway lol
