Hi mums,

Could you share your opinion on which would be the best feeder bottles ?

I would be breast feeding.

I was going to get the Tommie tippee starter pack but some say Avent is also good?

Not sure if Mam is good.

Thank you

Are you BFing currently? If baby hasn't arrived yet I would recommend waiting until they're here as research shows that you will be more likely to give up on BFing if you have bottles and formula in the house Flowers

Due Jan. :) yes please, I would like to know In advance which one is good as I am getting anxious. As well if you could rec the best manual and electronic pump.

Also I haven't done any prep yet. Yet to get the maternity bag ready.

My best advice would be don't get a pump yet. You might never need one. If you do because baby is early you can get a Hospital Grade one usually through the SCBU.

Same with bottles. Just wait till baby is here and see how you get on.

If like me, baby latches well after birth you may never need a bottle.

Unless you're really set on Combi feeding from the start, in which case I'd start a new thread on that as it had complications, then it's not really advised to introduce a bottle for a few weeks to give your baby chance to learn to BF, avoid nipple confusion and stop baby becoming lazy and only wanting a bottle.

The trouble is manufacturers and retailers are very keen to tell you that a pump and bottles are essential when most BFing Mums get by just fine without them.

Will do another post below on better ways to prepare as I'm aware that this one is getting a bit long! Grin

Right, ways to prepare to BF Wink

What supplies do I need? might be a good article for you Wink

Find out where your local BFing Support Group is and start going before LO arrives. You'll meet some local Mums and Mums-to-Be and get a feel for how it is looking after a newborn.

Have a read of Baby Calming by Caroline Deacon. It works however you end up feeding your baby and it's evidence based, unlike a lot of other baby books.

Also read BFing your Newborn, what to expect on the early weeks.

Get DH to read some of articles on supporting a BFing Mum.

Read up on Tongue Tie so you know the symptoms, just in case. My DS' was missed by so many HCPs.

And put the numbers for the BFing Helplines in your phone and call them as soon as anything that you're not sure of happens. The BFC will be happy to talk to you, that's why they train Wink

Hope some of that help Flowers
