4 month baby sudden feeding all night

Hi,
My baby is now 18 weeks, we have been into the thick of the sleep regression for the best part of 3 weeks now most nights waking every hour, sometimes we might get 2 hours, but no pattern at all.
I was managing to stay with the two feeds that she was previously satisfied with and settling her really quite easily for the other wake ups. I was already feeling very low at that point with sleep deprivation and struggling a little mentally and physically throughout the day… Now the past 4 nights she has been harder.. very difficult to settle, she is upset and literally eating my chin! So I’ve been feeding her whenever she wants but we are now at 2-3 hours through the night! We feed every 2-3 hours in the day and she is a big 15.5 pound baby with plenty of nappies. We have a possible ear infection which the GP provided antibiotics last night but only slight irritation no discharge or temperature.
Is this what happens when babies get a little sick perhaps? This is my first baby so I don’t know.
Is this normal to go from such little feeds to every 2-3 hours at night again?
Will this naturally stop or will I have to ween her gradually from these feeds?
Thank you all x

Hi this sounds like the 4 month growth spurt. Totally normal. I remember this very well, feeding all day and all night.
It is hard but you're doing so well and it will be over just like the 12 week growth spurt and 6 week one. Then later on the journey it will become so much easier.

Four month growth spurt, and possibly there are rumblings of teeth in those little gums.

It's really hard.

Thank you both so much
I didn’t actually know there was a 4 month growth spurt how wonderfully planned to coincide with the sleep regression 😢

Is she warm enough at night? Nothing will wake a baby faster than being a bit chilly IME, and feeding is a good way to keep you and your body heat close.
Also, if she might have a sore ear give her a bit of calpol before bed (if you aren't already).

I have her in a 2.5 sleep bag with long sleeve no leg body suit, temperature never drops below 18 degrees would you set the thermostat a little higher?
Thank you so much

I've no idea, it's years since I had tiny ones! 18 degrees sounds pretty toasty to me, but depending on where your thermostat is might room be a bit colder?
