Combination feeding

Hi, my LO is 5 months in a few weeks, due to her being slightly underweight I had to start combination feeding when she was 3.5 months old but I’m going to be completely bottle feeding her soon and was wondering if it’s safe to give a baby different amounts of formula at different times of the day?
our schedule is currently:

8:30 - morning 6oz formula feed

11:30 - breastfeed, she only BF’s for 3-5 mins each side

2:30 - 2nd 6oz bottle

5:30 - breastfeed, again only for 3-5 mins each side

8:30 - final 6oz bottle & bed.

I want to replace the BF’s with bottle feeds but I don’t think she’ll go from 18oz to 30oz so I was wondering if I could just offer her 4 or 5oz at the 11:30 and 5:30 times knowing she only usually has small feeds during these times anyway.
I would offer her 6oz at each feed but it’s a waste if she’s not going to drink it. Has anybody else done tbis? TYIA x

It's fine to feed on demand but do practice based bottle feeding so she isn't over fed. As you know bf and formula feeding is apples and oranges as your baby feeds from you for pain relief, comfort and connection so it won't be a like for like replacement of quantity. I would even go for much smaller amounts such as offering 20 or 30mls and see if she wants more. You may find she doesn't take to solids until closer to one so may still need a lot of formula if you decide to completely wean off the boob.

Even if you just keep one breast feed in 24 hours going until age one this has huge health benefits to you and baby though.

Using donor milk and formula to support breastfeeding - La Leche League GB

Babies sometimes need more milk than they can take at the breast.  This may be because they were born early or small, and don’t yet have enough energy to do all the work of breastfeeding.  Sometimes, mothers don’t have as much milk as their baby needs....
