How long do bottles stay sterile after they've been sterilized?

Hi, I expect this question has been asked loads of times, but my husband and I keep arguing about it so I thought I'd ask! I used a cold water steriliser for my baby's bottles, dummies etc, but wondered how long they remain sterile once removed from the solution? When we go out for the day I really don't know what to do for the best. I tend to use the ready-made cartons of formula, and only make up a bottle if I know I'll be feeding it to my baby within half an hour. On the bottle of sterlising solution it says bottles should be filled immediately, so I've been filling them with boiling water and then emptying them when required, however, what about the teets? I've tried the disposable Steribottles but they're not cheap and I feel guilty using them as it seems such a waste. Just wondered what other bottle feeding mothers do when out and about?

Once the bottles are assembled I would say they are ok for 24 hours. That was the rule I always went by anyway and both dc's survived ok.
