My six month old still feeds a lot but now has two razor sharp front teeth and when latching on often bites very hard. It makes me scream with pain. He's is my fifth child but the first one to give me this problem. I don't want to give up BF yet and switching to formula would be a fiddle/expensive but at this rate I am going to sustain a proper injury. A friend told me a horror story about someone who needed stitches after being bitten. This didn't help the feelings of apprehension I now have every time I offer the baby a tender part of my body. I tried a silicone guard but he can still bite hard enough on this to hurt. Books suggest saying "no" sternly, refusing to feed for a bit and not making eye contact. Needless to say this advice has proved useless. Anyone found a solution to this situation? Thanks.

I've been through this recently with my DD and I feel yoour pain . It seemd to go through phases with her, and was definately worse when she was actually teething, but fell off once the teeth were through.

I tried the taking her off, saying No and putting her facing away from me on the floor. she would get really upset by this so I think she knew what she was doing wrong. Someone suggested to me that instead of taking her off (the natural reaction), I pushed her into my breast as this would cause her to unlatch on her own.

also suggested was some bonjela or teething granules prior to the feed, but if your problem isn't directly rlated to the teething than not sure this would help.

I found myself feeding her with my index finger poised for unlatching. she gets really upset with this now and pushes it away as she feeds as if to say "muuuuum, I wont". she's now 10 months and we had it when her bottom and top two teeth were comig in, but not any of the others (she's teething at the minute nad has been fine).

There is some more info on here
