21 month old barely eats

My 21 month old is 1st percentile and weighs around 20lbs. He was born 54th percentile but due to undiagnosed tongue tie had dropped to 9th centile by 6 months. Now he's at 1 percentile and I really think it's because he refuses to give cows milk a go. He barely eats and wants milk only (but my supply has really tanked the last few months since my period returned). He has 2/3 feeds during the day and 2 at night but very very quick feeds. More for comfort and to help him sleep.

Does anyone have experience with their toddlers adding weight once weaned off breastfeeding? I'm scared of him totally stopping all food and drink without breast milk but then he's already so slim how much worse could it get right Sad

What does your GP / health visitor recommend? At 1st centile I would be hoping they would be giving some helpful support. Has he been checked for allergies to cows milk etc that might be behind his reluctance and failure to gain weight? I’d be worried too OP, you’re not being unreasonable. Are there any foods he does like, even if unhealthy? I know it’s important not to set up bad eating habits but a fussy eater is different to a kid with no apparent interest in food. Does he have any apparent issues with chewing or swallowing? Is he otherwise happy and meeting his milestones? Those are the kind of things your GP or health visitor should be asking to try to get to the bottom of this and help find some strategies.

Done great advice from babyshambles90.

I'd also want a referral to a SLT to check his chewing and swallowing.

Have you ever had his TT checked again by a TT Practitioner as sometimes they can reattach.

I don't think that you'd be unreasonable at all to go to the GP with your Red Book. Ask for him to be weighed and measured and recorded on the book and for referrals to a Paediatrician, SLT and Paediatric Dietician.
