Reflux choking episodes

Hi, I’m hoping someone can shed some light on something I’ve been experiencing with my 7 week old.

He is quite a gassy boy and often spits up after feeds (even a couple of hours later). Something that concerns us though is sometimes when he spits up he goes rigid, bright red in the face, his eyes bulge out and he appears to not be breathing. After a few seconds he then spits up quite a lot of sick, usually out his nose as well as mouth. It is very distressing to watch - the first time it happened we were still in hospital after my c section, I called the midwife in immediately as I thought he was choking and she said he just needed to be burped. I’m not sure though whether she actually saw the bit where he seemed to not be breathing. Rubbing/patting his back has always relieved it so far and he has never gone blue, but it is very scary!!

We are going to see a doctor about it of course, but I just wanted to know if this is something anyone else has experienced with their baby? It’s making me afraid to take my eyes off him!

My little girl did similar and I was told to feed her sitting her upright facing me or to lean her slightly forward. Wasn't easy but it did seem to work. Hope you can get it sorted soon.

Pressed send too early... apparently it helps any air come up easy and any reflux to come out rather than go back down.

Thank you, I’ll try that!
