7 month old waking up multiple times in the first few hours

MUMMAS!! Please help…. My baby is 7 month on the 5th ( was two weeks late). He’s never been a great sleeper, but from 5.5 months until last week things drastically improved. We co sleep and I BF. However the last few nights he has gone down easily but woken up multiple times crying within the first few hours. I literally lie with him for 15 mins as he falls asleep but within ten minutes of me leaving he’s crying again, this repeats multiple times until either he falls into a deep sleep or I go to bed. He has also cried out a couple of times in the night which he’s never done before. I’ve tried him in a cot and he just doesn’t settle, so that’s not really an option. Is this a phase? Has anyone else experienced this? Is this separation anxiety?

context- he has his bottom two teeth now, doesn’t really feed for comfort as has a dummy, has had difficulty going to the toilet since we started solids.

any help and advice would be greatly welcome. If it’s a phase I’ll happily ride it out but I’m just getting zero time with my partner or for myself right now and it’s tough. Thank you!!

I would try some teething powders at the first wake-up.

What would you say the signs of teething pain are at night? I thought we would have a slight break if his bottom two just cut..

It might be his tummy with not having a poo so regular. My 7mo recently went through a fussy sleeper phase but it seems clearing out his bowels after days of nothing did the trick and he's back to how ge was before his constipation.

You don't always get a break, if the teeth are moving, the teeth are moving. If powders don't help, and you have ruled out nappy needing changed/baby wants to feed, try calpol. The ride it out mindset is helpful, don't despair that baby will never sleep again.

Thank you both!
yes we are going to the GP tomorrow as his tummy definitely isn’t doing what it should… but also with his solids I guess there’s always a change in habits.

we have just tried some calpol now as I noted on the camera he was scratching on his head …

definitely I agree, I always try and think this is a phase and it won’t stay… it’s just hard sometimes when you’re so tired and you think oh I’m doing something wrong etc. he’s always been a rough sleeper , but he’s such a happy baby I try to put on my mum shoes and drink coffee 😂

It's a phase, mine did this. I think eating more in the evening has helped, and it was definitely worse when her teeth were close to coming through. Still happens now if she's teething at 11 months.

It is hard, you're doing great, mama.

Someone is always here to hold your hand and encourage you on, night or day.

Good luck at GP tomorrow and I hope you have a peaceful(ish) night.
