Formula pots

DS now on Apatmil Pepti 1 due to likely cows milk allergy, DD had it also. It's only available in powder form, so can't get the little readymade bottles for when out and about. I'm mostly breastfeeding but trying to ensure he will take a bottle as DD wouldn't until 9mo.

My question is re the formula pots you can buy to measure out the scoops for individual bottles - do they need to be sterilised? Anything you sterilise ends up wet and the formula would stick, but if you dry them with a tea towel / let them air it defies the point of sterilising them to start with!

I'm guessing you wash them well, and allow the hot water you make up the bottle with to kill any bacteria as with the formula itself?

Open to any advice / suggestions! Thank you

The biggest thing is sterilising the formula which happens when you add recently boiled water.
It wouldn't hurt to sterilise them but washed properly is likely to be sufficient.
We used to take the formula out in a second sterilised bottle.

Thank you, that's what I thought just wasn't sure if I was missing something 😂 I'd have thought there would be more bacteria in the formula than a freshly washed and dried pot, so hopefully the hot water does the trick!

If you've got a dishwasher you could put them through there. They should be sterile after that.

Do agree though that the water you add should be hot enough to kill and bacteria as the formula won't be sterile.
