Pepti 1 v Nutrimagen CMPA

Hi

is there a difference with the aptamil pepti 1 and nutrimagen?

Baby has been on it for 3 weeks with suspected CMPA, there were a few days where his symptoms improved however have all come back and worse, especially his skin.

Urgent referral to the dietician but until then, GP has prescribed Nutrimagen to try? Is there any point? I’ve requested the fully dairy free one however GP advised they are unable to do this.

His eczema on his face is basically out of control however his body is hardly touched, just more blotchy rash type. Had to go to UTC last night due to eczema beginning to weep, was given fucidin however skin looks the worst it ever has this morning. Doesn’t help that baby is really really scratching it more then lately, whether that’s to do with the weather or something else?

very stressed right now! Any advise welcome!

They are both extensively hydrolysed formulas but they have different proteins broken down. There are two dairy proteins caesin and whey and the two formulas each only have 1 protein hydrolysed. You can be allergic to one or both of the proteins. If you baby is allergic only allergic to caesin or whey it's possible to respond ok to one for the formulas but not to the other. If you can find a hydrolysed formula they can settle on it is better as they keep their tolerance to the proteins, it's more palatable and it's not as thin so doesn't trigger reflux as much as the amino acid formulas.

If the baby is just very sensitive or allergic to both proteins then they will need an amino acid formula.
