Hi, any tips on getting more milk when only able to get time to express 3 or 4 times a day and only getting a max of 15ml each time. Baby gets formula mostly, but i really want her to get more breast milk.
Thank you x

I was never very successful with expressing but I've read somewhere recently that if you cover the bottle that you're expressing into with a baby sock it usually increases production

They're not sure why but think that no seeing the amount you express stops you producing stress hormones that could inhibit production.

Have you got any RL support @Jo84ftm ? Wink

Hiya, OP. We've moved your thread to our Infant Feeding board now, where you might get a bit more support.

Hi OP some people really struggle to express. I EBF but always wanted to express so baby could have a bottle but I could barely produce 10ml! Crazy because baby thrived on my breastmilk, but could only get it at source. Any chance you could put the baby to your breast or are there latching issues etc?

The best solution is actually baby breast feeding. The more you bf the more you will get out when expressing Baby sucking is the best way you can increase your supply.

If that isn't an option then you need to increase the frequency you are expressing including during the night.

Look at baby or a photo of baby when expressing as that will help get your hormones going.

Have you checked that you have the correct size flange? What type of pump do you have? You can rent a hospital grade pump which might make a difference.

Start with making sure you have a correct fitting pump though.

I have a relatively inexpensive double one you put in your bra and I think it's great as you can crack on with stuff. I get 60-120ml per 20 minute session. This is the one I have: amzn.eu/d/3Jg53LI.

Some tips about maximising milk when pumping as efficiently as possible:
Here.

Good quality, well fitted pump would be helpful, but its frequency that really makes a difference. It doesn't have to be regular (as in not evenly spaced) often...would your baby spend time on the boob? Even if there's not much milk that will help to increase supply.
