Is this silent reflux?

My LO is 11 weeks now and up until about 10 days ago we had no problems with feeding whatsoever.

He is currently on 5 x 7oz bottles a day and sleeping through the night.

About 10 days ago, he started fighting the bottle towards the end of the feed. He takes about 5-6oz no problem, starts to fidget so we stop to burp and then getting him to take the bottle back is a battle in itself! He latches on and then turns his head so milk goes everywhere. Pushes the bottle away with his tongue. Once he gets going again he's usually not too bad but it's just getting him going again that's the problem.

A lady at the baby group I go to suggested it could be silent reflux.

Does it sound like this is the case? I'm a FTM so have very little knowledge on this.

Any suggestions welcome ☺️

Update -Have spoken to the GP and because he is happy, sleeping well and putting on weight, they see no reason to meditate and he might only have the slightest bit of reflux.

Not helpful when my baby is thrashing his head around and uncomfortable during his feeds!

Perhaps he no longer wants a full 7oz feed.

I have thought about this but before this when he'd had enough he just wouldn't open his mouth. Now he does, takes the bottle, even latches on sometimes and then starts turning his head away so it goes everywhere.

I'm just worried he's not going to get enough as he already weighs 14lb and whatever I've read suggests he should be having 35oz a day.

Hi my little girl is 10 weeks and exactly the same. I'm not sure what to do she is on 5oz every 3-4 hrs but she's started taking 2oz then thrashing around and refusing anymore - almost like she is refusing to / can't suck anymore. Just wondering how things are for you and if you saw any improvement?

Hi,

Honestly, it's very up and down. We've been like this for 5 weeks now. He has good days and bad days. The end of last week he was brilliant, downing bottles in 10 minutes, to the point I thought he was finishing them too fast and they were going to come back up again.

Yesterday was a tough day.

I still don't know the cause but we had been giving him infacol before each feed but thought he no longer needed it so stopped giving it from Saturday lunchtime. He had 2 brilliant feeds afterwards and then started becoming awkward again Saturday night so I'm wondering if it could be wind.

I'm going to start the infacol again this morning when he wakes up and see if it makes any difference.

He is a lot harder to feed if there are any distractions. I have to feed with the tv off and curtain shut so it's not as bright. I do find it helps.

Sorry I can't be of any more help. It seems this is a phase we have to battle through. My little man will be perfect for 2/3/4 days, then go back to being a monkey.

Feel free to message me again if you need someone to talk to about it. ☺️ I know how frustrated you must feel!

If it makes you feel any better, this morning's feed was a nightmare for us. He decided it was fun after so long to blow the milk back at me from round the teat.

It was not a fun feed!

At least you know you're not alone!
