Making formula 7 month old

Hi, just doing some planning ahead - I am going on holiday in September and my baby will be 7 months old. She can’t have ready made milk due to CMPA - at home I use perfect prep or make bottles in advance and take a cool bag. When she is 7 months at the airport or the beach - can I use a flask of boiled water as a hot shot for the powder and then add tap water airport or Evian bottled water if abroad ? Or does the cool water still need to be boiled at this age?

just trying to work out the logistics

thanks!

I would only feel comfortable using boiled water. Maybe have a chat with your health visitor because she will know more!

I believe the current advice is that tap is preferable to mineral due to potential sodium content, but a quick Google on that brought up this Cow&Gate page https://www.cgbabyclub.co.uk/baby/feeding/bottlefeeding/preparing-formula-without-tap-water.html which may be helpful.

I would take a thermometer or something ensure that the hot water is at 70 as anything below that won’t kill the bacteria.

You can take bottles you have made in advance through airport security, baby milk is an exempt liquid - they may ask you to taste it with your finger but they will allow it through.

It may sound ridiculous but when we went to Greece with my 7 month old we packed the perfect prep! Then used pre-made forumula for the travel days.

Depends where you are going abroad, I think, as to whether you use tap or bottled, but I would still boil.

In France you’re right that Evian is a baby-friendly water, but we found other cheaper brands with similar nutrient balances. They were clearly labelled as suitable for babies.

The nuby rapid cool is a game changer here. Just take your boiling water in a thermos flask and mix it all together in the rapid cool. I think there is specific baby safe bottled water in the supermarkets you need to look for.

If your child has cmpa all the formula ive seen/used (alfamino, nutramigen puramino etc) is supposed to use cooled boiled water.
Ie. The hot is not boiling.

So i'd have thought you'd be better off with milton tablets to clean and good thermos flask and a rapidcool.

We have 4 rapid cools. I much prefer it to perfect prep.

When we've been abroad we've taken a flash and had it filled at the airport, taken sterilised cool boiled water in pre measured bottles in hand luggage too. You're allowed to bring baby items that are liquid through security :)

Take cooled or warm boiled water in a flask and formula In a pot

Thanks, yes think I’ll take cooled
boiled water and a flask of hot. We are going to Portugal so will use Evian when there - thanks everyone
