2nd time mama first time BF

Where to start - so I’m ebf my little girl. I have maniac boobs haha, my letdown is so fast I hear it flooding out of me and my HV suspects I have an oversupply as my boobs always feel engorged and baby is satisfied and gaining well so she’s getting plenty. She’s a super gassy baby, hiccups, trapped wind, hard to get a burp up etc she’s 9 weeks old tomorrow and does seem to be getting a bit better. But still struggles with my letdown, I try and take her off when I can feel it happening so she’s not overwhelmed but it can happen 2/3 times during a feed and can really hurt! (is this normal!?)

but she’s had a couple of ropey looking nappies (I’ve included one photo open if you dare) firstly she has come down with a cold which started yesterday - blame her 3 year old snotbag brother 😂 so maybe it could be due to that?

But she’s also had a couple of nappies that have mucus in. Now I know that’s a sign of cmpa possibly so I have been dairy free now solidly for a few days just in case

But I’m just wondering, can a fast letdown/flow etc cause these gassy, trapped wind, hiccup, runny poo symptoms?! She’s happy in herself, currently fast asleep after her 3rd feed of the day and apart from forcing multiple farts out this morning she woke up smiling as usual. She doesn’t have a temperature but yesterdays poo was an odd one!

Again I’m new to breastfeeding I don’t know what’s normal and what’s not really

Any insight to this wonderful but confusing world of breastfeeding would be amazing 💐

That is quite a wild nappy, but I wouldn't be iverconcerned about it. She is still really young and their digestive system is still developing. Mucous is also pretty normal. She might also seem to strain and groan, maybe even cry a bit when pooping. And this is also normal as she learns how to do a poop.

With your let down- have you tried laid back feeding? So essentially gravity helps with it. Lie back into a comfortable position, so you aren't upright and the milk flows a bit slower. It shouldn't be painful, but let down in the early days can feel a bit weird. Have you contacted your local feeding team? And is there a breastfeeding group local to you?

I don't think you'll have over supply at this stage. Your supply won't have settled yet and it could be another 6-8 weeks before it does. Baby will still be clustering to stabilise what she needs. Babys hiccup constantly. It's probably bothering you, more than her. If it's hard to get a burp, there is probably no wind there. When you say gassy, is she farty?

You're doing amazing and nothing here sounds out of the ordinary to me.

I have BF my boy for 25 months now.

Xx
