how many feeds for 3mo?

as it says really, how many feeds should a bf baby have at 3mo?

Today my DD has fed at 3am ish, 6.30am, 11am. It is now nearly 5pm. I offered her the breast at 2.20pm and 4.20pm and she screamed. She feeds nicely when she wants but screams blue murder if she's not ready. I'm worried she's going too long and not getting enough, especially after slow weight gain concerns, although that has been sorted. She also has thrush. Its looking like she will have 5 feeds today (6ish and 10 ish)

that seems a long time btw 6.30 and 11. and the pm gap too but you said she refused. maybe the thrush is making it hard for her to feed.

DS and DD had 5 feeds a day at that age from 6am through to 11pm.
They would feed for ages but then were satisfied.
Hope the thrush improves.

Sorry, didn't make that clear. She will of had 5 feeds in 24 hours if she feeds at about 6ish and 10 ish tonight. They are REALLY good feeds when she does though.

Sounds normal to me!

DD is 4 monys old and generally feeds at 8am, 10am, 1pm, 4pm, 7pm and 9pm ish, all of them last 45 mins to an hour. She does have small snack feeds throughout the day which last aprrox 5 mins. But then she will sleep from 9.30pm till 8am without a night feed.

4 MONTHS old

In the end she fed at about 5.15pm and midnight. So that was 5 feeds in 24 hours. Today she has had 5 feeds and its not 2.30pm yet! One was a snack mind, but 4 proper feeds. I am feeling much better that she's feeding more

Have to say if she went 6-8 hours at night I'd be quite chuffed but would then worry about lack of night feed/prolactin levels etc. Never happy me, need something to worry about!

Sometimes thrush can make them a bit fussy when feeding. When ds was about 3 and a half months old I had weight gain probs with him and the breast feeding councillor said that 5 feeds a day was not that many for his age, she didn't say it wasn't enough but could be more considering the weight problem. She suggested trying to fit in between 5 and 8 feeds in 24hrs, mine too screamed a LOT if he didn't want to feed. All you can do is offer at regular intervils, you can't make lo feed... Maybe think about when the best feeds are and if you're doing anything different at those feeds? like are they in a certain position or place? hth

I think the nystatin for thrush has started to work already (got it on friday), she fed roughly 2 hourly yesterday. I was so pleased. I think she was making up for being starving for a few days

Thanks for all your messages
