Need advice for my 8 week old

My LO is almost 8 weeks old and this week he’s started drooling quite a lot and occasionally sucking on his hand or arm. He already has a dummy.
he’s also started rubbing his head against my chest/shoulder too ( I think this might be to tiredness but it’s something new he’s started).

He’s formula fed and usually goes between 2 and half hours and 3 hours between feed but this week he barely making it 2 hours between feeds and gets hysterical. when we stop to burp he starts crying too.

not sure if the first part of my post has anything to do with the latter.

worried that we’re feeding him when it’s not what he’s needing and it could be something else. I’m worried about feeding too much.

any advice would be appreciated.

He's probably tired. Pop him on the sling and go for a walk.

I'm not sure the dribbling and fist sucking necessarily has anything to do with feeding or hunger. They find their hands at that age and it's very common for dribbling to start. May possibly be the teeth starting moving around in their gums. My little one is 4 months and we've had this now for a couple of months even when he is just fed and content, we are getting through multiple bibs a day.

He’s crying again an hour and a half after his last feed and I can’t console him.

Things you could try:

  • tiger tree hold (google/youtube)
  • a sling / stretchy wrap
  • going outside with him, sometimes just helps reset
  • walk in the buggy (outside, or indoors if you have the space)
  • lay down next to him

Will he take another feed if you offer him it now? iirc there is often a 'leap' around 8 weeks along with cluster feeding so it could be that.
