Short version:

EBF 12 week old.

If i express for dh to offer milk during the night, how much should we give?

Long version:

I have a 12 week old. His sleep has turned into a big problem and I'm not getting much because of it. He's up all hours. I have a cold, and now really struggling with severe neck pain, presumably after nodding some feeding in a chair during the nights. DH is back to work tomorrow and I'm a shell of a human that can't cope anymore.

I'm thinking of trying to express for dh to be able to offer a feed when he tries to help during the night. But I don't know how much he should offer?

I've seen other posts where people give formula and say baby guzzles it and others respond it's because it's easier so I just wondered how much to offer.

I always feed him when I'm up with him, it's the only way he'll settle.

He was previously sleeping a 4 - 6 hour stretch most nights (I think), with an occasional proper full night. But he's been up every 45 to 90mins more recently. His longest stretches are 2.5hrs now and these are now rare too. I am utterly broken.

Considered co-sleeping to try to survive but haven't found feeding laying down manageable in the past and I don't think it would be now with the neck issue either.

We also have an older child so no time to catch up on sleep etc during the day. Expressing is a challenge too.

Baby also has cmpa so I can't just get some formula to try. And I know with my cold (which baby also has too) bfing is the best thing for the antibodies anyway. I'm just knackered though.

Sorry for the long post! Thanks so much if you've read it all!

Just start with 90ml of expressed milk and see how you go. My BF baby can only reliably take 120ml from a bottle and she is 5mo. We use Lansinoh bottles, I think they're harder to glug from (that's a good thing).

When you say feed lying down, do you mean with her on top of you or side lying? X

Thank you.

Side lying.

I haven't tried since the first couple of weeks, but still can't see how I could be comfortable (and warm enough!) and him safe.

We co-sleep in the 'safe C' position and do side lying feeding. Haven't had any issues thus far, maybe you could try it for naps and see how you go?
