Milk in only one breast

My 1 year old only feeds once in a 24 hr period, but she only feeds from one breast and refuses to feed from the other! I'm guessing my milk is gone in the refused breast and I'm just wondering how common this is? She hasn't fed from that side in about a week. I haven't felt any engorgement at all! Wondering why it dried up all of a sudden, as opposed to my other breast which she still feeds from. She was feeding equally from body breasts up until a week ago. Any thoughts on this?

I would pump the other breast at the same time or after to even things out. If it's not getting used it will dry up. Nobody wants enormously wonky boobs! 🤣

When I BF my youngest, at about 6 months, he started to refuse my left breast. So he would only feed from the right, No Idea why although tbh both him and his brother who I also breastfed wouldn't never feed as long from the left-side.
It was a bit frustrating but he was eating by then so he feeds were not as frequent.

I wouldn't worry, I'm sure your little one is getting enough.

It’s common enough, they won’t be hugely different in size when your baby is over 1 and not feeding constantly like the early weeks. Two of my 3 dc fed from one side only for at least a year, not noticeable different sizes from it.

Sometimes it's more about positioning than lack of milk. E.g. if child has a stiff neck they will only want to lay in one direction. So I'd suggest trying a few different positions on the other side. If she will feed in the cradle hold on the left side, then the rugby hold on the right side would have her body in the same position for example.

Have you tried hand expressing the side you think may have dried up to see whether milk is coming out?

Thank you all! Glad to know this is relatively normal. Will just continue as we are since I think she will be fully weaned within the next couple months. I haven't noticed any shape/size difference between my breasts, strangely enough. And even though she is not feeding from it, my left breast still produces milk when I hand express. And it's never engorged! The human body is weird and marvellous. 😂
