I had a c section followed by complications which meant breastfeeding that first week was really hard, bad positioning = bad latch! Anyway, two weeks in my latch is sorted and one nipple has healed but the other is just getting worse and worse.

It's blistering, I bite down on something for the first minute of the feed before the pain wears off a bit, my nipple touching anything (even my bra or a towel after the shower!) causes me extreme pain. Oddly this breast has now stopped leaking milk - where as the other still does.

I've thought of expressing that side to let nipple heal, but pumping and the Hakka is agony on that nipple. I'm using copious amounts of nipple creams/balms and painkillers to no avail.

What do I do? If I feed on just one side will the bad nipple side dry up? I'm anxious as I remember from my first EBF baby that the first few weeks are vital for establishing milk production etc...

Any tips to reduce pain so that I can wear clothes without pain?

Something similar happened to me and the midwife recommended I use Silverette Nursing Cups and to stop using balm. They worked for me.

A nipple shield

Get your latch checked by a BF specialist. I know you said it's sorted but the blister should be healing.
