My darling dd is exclusively breastfed and just started solids this week. She has treatment for reflux which she is been on for a good 6 weeks now.

She has always ahd a tendancy for green stools since birth but recently they are illuminious green and only very rarely are they yellow. I think she may have had diarrhoea the last week or so as she went from going once or twice a day to now every feed and the last couple of nights she has pooped after a feed at night!

HV, GP keep saying its normal but not reassured i found some information that talked about fore/hind milk imbalance which sounds like it may be the problem but i just can't get dd to feed for a good length of time on one breast before having the other. After five mins of good sucking she sits up has a look around and seconds later is back down for a few sucks, up again and down again, this goes on for 5 or 6 times and then i give in and give other side where she sucks for a good five mins again. How can i get her to feed from one side to get the fatty milk?

Sorry its so long!

I worry about this and sort of double feed on each side (esp. during the day)so if DD has one short (v distracted) feed on the right then I put her back there next feed and then switch to the left if necessary (this is also about pain management for me as left is way worse - BTW DD is 7 mths)

chocospence, green stools are not worth worrying about in a healthy, thriving baby. This colour is on the normal spectrum. Also, the variation in frequency of pooing is normal. As is the short on and off feeding. She does not need to stay on longer if she does not want to and with a healthy baby, no one needs to worry about fore/hindmilk which look after themselves very well without engineering the feed
