Aptamil Pepti, Gaviscon and Wind🥲

Hi all

My LO suffers from silent reflux and was prescribed gaviscon and aptamil pepti to treat which seems to have done enough of a job that we can actually lie her down to sleep at night.

the only thing is she is exceptionally windy. Maybe I am naive in thinking this as I am a FTM but the winding goes on for at least four hours which is usually right up to the next bottle. She wakes once at night for a feed at 1am but we are up winding her until nearly 5am after that. Surely that is excessive? She is taking 6oz and is burped after every 2oz.

not sure if this is the milk not agreeing with her or the gaviscon maybe? Does anyone have any similar experience?

Hi, I hope your lo is doing well and is alot more settled! We are having the exact same issue with our lo, he was put on aptamil pepti at 3 weeks old due to symptoms of cmpa and seemed loads better on it. We noticed though his reflux got worse with it being so thin and was given gaviscon 24 hours ago and already his reflux seems to be better also. He is also extremely windy, he does manage to get his wind up and out but no matter what he always seems to be so uncomfortable with it at night. Did you ever find a resolution or reason? I have tried infacol but this made his reflux worse. x

Hi @Laurens95, sorry to hear you are going through something similar. It really is tough when you are in the thick of it. Unfortunately we never really found a resolution, she just grew out of it at around the 8 month mark (she was around 3-4 months at the time of original post).
The winding did get gradually reduce as the reflux got better and now finally we are not winding any more😅

Tbh from my experience anyway, it is something that we had to ride out. Nothing really helped for us and we tried a good few things. Gaviscon was the only thing that made a slight difference, adding this allowed us the actually lie her down in her bassinet, before this we were having to hold her upright 24/7 taking shifts but she still did suffer quite a bit even after that.

I hope that you find something will work for your little boy, it really is awful to watch them going through so much discomfort. Best of luck! x
