My 17 week DS is being BF - i think he is going through a major 4 month growth spurt as his feeds have increased from every 2-3 hours in the day and 3-4 hours in the night to practically every hour in the day and every 2 in the night - we were up 5 times last night when he used to only wake up twice. He has been irritable over the weekend (not normally like this) and being more fussy over his sleep.

He is big for his age 14lb 11oz last week

Does this sound familiar to anyone?!!

Sounds very much like a growth spurt - my ds is only 7 weeks but did exactly this a week or so ago - it does make them really irritable as well. They last from 2 days up to a week apparently. Have a look at the kellymom.com website (sorry can't do links!) as I have got so much brilliant useful info on there about all sorts of stuff to do with bf-ing. HTH

Hi Peggotty, hope things are well with you

It sounds like a growth spurt, and it sounds like you're doing the right things. Feed him when he wants it and your milk supply will quite quickly catch up to his increased demands.

It won't last too long and things will settle down soon. Don't fight it and try not to get aggrivated by the non-stop feeding (easier said then done I know) If you resign yourself to it, it makes your life sooooo much easier. Say to self 'this will not last forever'

Sounds very normal. It is exhausting, so concentrate on feeding and do minimal stuff elsewhere. Co-sleep (if you aren;t already) if that makes things easier for you. Get friends and family to help if you can.

Thanks everyone for all your advice - it is definately helping to reassure me. I will just roll with it until it passes and I get my happy DS back!!
