When can I stop sterilising?

Hi there - I am currently bf-ing my 8 month-old morning and night, and giving her 2 bottles of formula during the day. When can I stop sterilising the bottles for these feeds?? Very grateful for any advice (its such a faff!).

If you use a dishwasher, you could probably stop soon - many people do. The officail age is 1 yr, but I gave it up at 11 mths when ds moved onto cows milk.

I stopped once my kids started crawling around putting all sorts of crap into their mouths, (about 7 months)

I stopped about 7 months. There's loads of threads on here saying that that in the SCBU they don't sterilise, just wash in hot soapy water and leave to air dry. That's what I did

As tiredemma - I stopped once DD started putting anything and everything in her mouth. This was advice from HV. Also was told that a dishwasher is as good as a steriliser. If you have one!

Thanks for your advice! I take it I would have to use it as soon as it came out of a dishwasher if I were to rely on that method for sterilising?

I wouldn't think so. You would just have to keep it in a clean, reasonably dry place after it came out of the dishwasher. In the US, they don't recommend sterilising at all any more, on the grounds that if you have a safe water supply you don't need to.
