My 5 week old has just been prescribed CMPA milk, he is so unsettled most the day just wondering if he does have CMPA when do the symptoms start to settle when using the new milk as it is so hard as there is nothing we can do to console him.

Hi op,

It took us about a week and a half/ 2 weeks, but we did have to switch milks. Prescribed nutramigen first, but Bubba didn't get on with that one, then neocate.

We were also mix feeding, and it takes a while to come out of your breast milk. We did see an improvement pretty much straight away once on neocate, but a huge difference after the 2 week mark

Oh I didn’t even know they did more than one milk, we have got the nutramigen how did you know your baby didn’t agree with that one what were the symptoms?

Do you use a perfect prep? So so many people struggle with digestive issues with it that even if you’re using Nutramigen milk he may still have issues. I know it’s a faff but best to make them up the normal way.

It can take 2+ weeks for the dairy to leave their system, so give it a bit of time and then see about switching to another milk.

So my baby wouldn't drink it. Then, when he was really hungry, he would drink a bottle by the end of day 2 he would let himself go hungry. So I called the gp back and said he wouldn't drink it. Can we try something else, and they did.

It's frustrating having to wait, but it can be up to 2 weeks for all dairy to leave their system. If your struggling and / or symptoms are not reducing, I'd give the gp a call and ask if their are any other options

Yeah my baby is the same he’s not really drinking it, lucky if he drinks 2 ounces which takes the full hour. He’s gaining weight very slowly anyways so going to give it a couple days and if he’s still not drinking definitely going to ring the GP baco

Oh, love him. My little one also lost lots of weight. To be honest, I didn't leave it for more than 2 days. I think if your little one isn't drinking it, I'd ring them today. It always takes a day or 2 for milk to be ordered in where we are. And hated the thought of mine being hungry as well as uncomfortable from the allergy. I had to put him back on the cows milk formula whilst I waited for the new one to be ordered in so he didn't go hungry. Although it was only 24 hours, It felt like a lifetime at the time!

We only got prescribed it yesterday and his first bottle of it was yesterday evening, do you not think it’s too soon? I’m going to see how he’s goes with his next bottle then message health visitor for some advice I thjnk
