How to stop breastfeeding on one side

Hello!

I was wondering if you could help me.
When my little one was born, we spent two days in hospital as he wouldn't latch. He's 7 weeks now
He has latched but we both definitely prefer the right breast.
When he was one week old I got really bad mastitis on the left side which meant my supply is slower and lower. He doesn't like feeding from this side and I've tried to put him on and pump to increase the supply ...which it has slightly.
My problem is that I keep on getting blocked ducts and fever due to a continuous bad latch on the left side ...I've been to the hospital infant feeding team, spoken to numerous midwifes, the health visitor, paid privately for a lactation consultants. They all say the latch is perfect, but he fusses and pulls away in the feed.
I'm really fed up of the left side and I would like to just feed from the right side.
How do I slowly stop the milk supply in the left side without getting blocked ducts and mastisis again?
I'm so fed up of being ill and now being able to look after him properly when I am.
Thank you

Then just stop. My youngest had a preference early on after bf was established. I just fed from that side when it felt uncomfortable and eventually just stopped altogether. The other side makes up for it.

I didn't get blocked ducts or mastitis though. Maybe a pump just to let down and get rid of a bit?

I would just say that me and my babies both preferred one side. I continued to feed from both breasts. One of my boobs is now distinctly bigger than the other. 11 years later.
I’m not sure if this is usual!

Feed on the right and gradually reduce feeds on the left. Your supply will go to wherever the milk is taken from.

Have you had a bf consultant look at your positioning when feeding on the less preferred side?

I had to change how I held dc3 on one side - they seemed to be less comfortable and changing the position I held them in resolved that pretty sharpish

Otherwise I'd slowly reduce feeding on the less preferred side. Be aware though that you might get (unconnected) complications in the other breast and if you have stopped feeding on one side that might be problematic later. It's ok for them to have a less preferred side (though not the mastitis etc)
