Nine weeks of pain and counting... encouragement please

DD will be nine weeks on Tuesday. BF has been a constant source of pain, first cracked nipples, then blocked duct, mastitis, thrush and now I think the thrush has cleared just for the mastitis to return. All the problems have been on one side and I'm sure it's the latch or positioning, but I just can't get it right. BF counsellor at group I go to suggested tongue tie, so I'm trying to find a way to confirm that (possibly another group, the one I go to is very busy and my baby is absolutely thriving despite my problems so I feel reticent about demanding the counsellor's time).

Anyway, last night (as I once again wept with pain), DP said that if we haven't actually resolved things in two weeks we should switch to FF. He's been incredibly supportive of the BF and I know that what he's doing is taking the decision away from me so that I don't have the guilt on top of everything else, and I know that when the time comes we can rethink, it's not like he's actually going to 'put his foot down' or anything stupid like that. But I'm so sad that it's come to this and a bit desperate now to find a solution.

Nothing that anyone can help with I know but kind words please if you have time to leave them.

have you thought of only feeding from one side ? And maybe expressing from the bad latch side (although that is probably not necessary). There is not likely to be a problem with supply - because it should match demand (just as if you were feeding twins).

I would just tell yourself for today I am going to breastfeed and reassess at the end of each day.

I hope you get the mastitis sorted out.

by the way - congrats for getting this far - the first month or so are usually the worst (if that is any consolation).
