17 week old refusing feeds HELP

Please help! My son is 17 weeks (tomorrow) & for the past few weeks has been really crying, sometimes screaming, pushing the bottle away with his hands before I even attempt to feed him. It's been really challenging getting him to accept milk at any time. I've tried decreasing/increasing length of time, amounts, temperature, position and it's just not working.

He will sometimes take it if I use the dummy and quickly switch but not always.

Is this part of leap 4? I don't know what to do! It's exhausting and so stressful. I hate to see him upset when I can tell he's clearly hungry. He cries like he's in pain!

Should I change the formula? We've always used kendamil, thinking of trying aptamil? Have always questioned him on kendamil & whether it's too rich?

Should I consider bottle change? He's always been on MAM and never any issues but is it possible he's changed his mind?

He used to do 180-210 ish every 3 hrs and now I can barely get 60-90 or anything at the 3 hr mark. He takes it much better at the overnight feeds but not always.

Any advice or reassurance that it gets better would be greatly appreciated.

Does he have any reflux type symptoms or dairy allergy type symptoms?
does he get excessively windy? If so has he been checked for tongue tie?

if no to all of the above it sounds like he might have a feeding aversion which is what my little one had

How are you both getting on now @lucyricketts?

Have you checked that the test is a) not blocked and b) might need to be more free flowing as your baby gets bigger?

Heya, he's now 9.5 months and it did get a lot better for us. Personally we changed the formula from kendamil to aptamil and it made a huge difference which I wasn't sure whether it would. We also tried to get him on more of a schedule as I think he was either not hungry enough or too hungry when we were offering it so we experimented with timings but I also remember his sleep was a big factor in the refusal, screaming. If he was overtired or too tired then he'd do the screaming so we started using huckleberry to track sweet spots. We just had to ride it out apart from that and it did get better after leap 4 fussy phase. Since weaning it's been a lot better although he's still not a big fan of milk now, much more interested in food. Hang in there; it does get better x

We also replaced the teats I think too for new ones and tried feeding him with distractions. Miss Rachel etc. I know that's not for everyone but we found distractions really help in difficult moments x
