Is this a nursing strike?

DS is 9 1/2 months old and breastfed. For the last 24 hours I have tried to BF him as normal, he puts my nipple in his mouth and roots around frantically then starts crying and getting very distressed. He has had no BFs at all although he has had water from a cup and even more solid food as usual.

He's not ill or teething and I have checked his mouth for thrush. It may be a coincidence but he had an eventful day yesterday with manic excitement due to Daddy coming back from 5 days away and lots of screaming after falling off my bed - more a shock than anything else cos he fell on his changing bag!

So do you think this could be a nursing strike or a permanent stoppage? Do you have any tips for getting DS back to BFing?

bumping for you, but hope he's just having an off day. When my DD has done this before I feed her in the lying down position on the bed which is how she feeds at night and it seems to work?

Thank you grouphug, he's just gone to bed and hasn't had any milk today even when I tried lying down.

Hopefully this won't last too long as I don't know how I'll get milk into him. He hates formula and won't even take expressed milk!

have you used anew shower gel/body lotion as it may taste funny

Thanks for your suggestion Ruby Lou but no new smellies! DS woke up this morning and had a mammoth BF followed by another mid morning so it looks like normal service is resumed!
