Reflux, Carobel, Omeprazole and side effects

Our LG is 4 months and has bad sicky reflux. She did have silent reflux which seems to have eased this week although I am also wanting to get prepared that it might come back. She is sick after bottles and can be sick up to 2 hours after her bottle. It seems to be when she is picked up from a sitting or lying position. We have started to keep her upright up to an hour after her bottle and now she is holding her head better she can be sat up to play rather than lying down on her mat most of the playtime. We had Gaviscon prescribed but it gave her horrific constipation where she had blood in her poo from straining 😢 so we stopped that. We have been prescribed Omeprazole but as the acid reflux seems to have eased and I have read it doesn’t help with sickness we haven’t started her on it. I am looking at other options and hoping you can help. Someone mentioned Carobel as an option - is anyone using this for reflux and what are the side effects? Anyones little one on Omeprazole and how are you getting on with it? Any other suggestions would be amazing too. We have tried changing her milk and tried Aptimal which made no difference (currently on C&G pre made), tried kendamil and she wouldn’t take the bottle, tried powder bottles using PP and this seemed to make her reflux worse so we went back to pre made bottles. Was thinking of trying HIPP Organic? We are planning to start her weaning journey in a few weeks which we hope will also help.
Thanks everyone and sorry for the long message!

Both my twins have reflux, they're 4 months old and have been on omeprazole since a week old. It doesn't stop the sick but it does stop the acid so the vomiting doesn't hurt them.
Mine didn't get on with gaviscon either so have been on carobel since 3 weeks old - honestly it works a treat. Their vomiting massively reduced, previously they couldnt drink a bottle, now they happily take 6 or 7 ounces a feed, they do still vomit but it doesn't bother them one bit. You'll need a bigger bottle teat as it thickens the milk, ours were originally on mam size 2 and just put them up to size 3 about 2 weeks ago.
We keep their heads above their feet for 30 mins post feed (just sat in their twin pillow so they're on an angle rather than upright), this seems to stop them being uncomfortable as if we have to lay them down to change them straight after they get upset.
We change nappies before feeds for this reason.
Re. The powder and perfect prep making it worse, lots of people say swirl don't shake the bottle but if you use carobel it needs a good shake. We put one drop of infacol in the bottle after and all the bubbles dissappear and it eliminates the problem.

Any questions let me know!

Hey my baby has silent reflux since birth along with CMPA which I had to fight and argue with the docs to get diagnosed. I chose to go down the non medicine route to the annoyance of the gp initially it was because I believed the reflux was a symptom of the CMPA so it didn’t make since to me that they would prescribe omeprazole before even considering a change of milk. I did try gavison but only for a few days as it made him gag. I manage mostly buy given him small feeds often he drinks 2-5oz every 2-3 hours and not laying him down flat for as long as possible. Every baby is so different and what works for some may not work for others. I know many parents say omerprazole has helped massively while others say it made no difference or babies seem to be on it for long periods of time. Iv done a huge amount of research into the use of PPIs in babies and haven’t really found that much evidence suggesting that it really works. It’s absolutely been a personal choice to not use it and because Iv been able to manage the symptoms without it. If the change to prescription milk (aptamil pepti 1) didn’t help I would of tried anything. He’s doing really well but we do have good days and bad his 4 months 3 weeks and I have recently started giving him baby rice. If like me you’ve been told that weaning will be the end, its not necessarily a cure as many foods can trigger reflux, that’s not to say that for many it has help massively.
