When to use colostrum.

I was advised to start harvesting colostrum to naturally induce labour (no such luck haha) but I now have quite a stash, about 40 syringes.

My research is telling me they’re good in the freezer for 6 months. When is best to use these? I’ve heard it’s good to use colostrum when baby is sick but hoping and assuming baby won’t have 40 x snuffles in six months.

Any advice welcome

I’ve never heard of that in my life but sounds interesting

Colostrum also contains something that acts similar to a laxative. The breasts stop producing colostrum gradually and by about 6 weeks or so it's gone replaced with mature milk. I'd hold on to them for more than 6 months personally and if baby is ever constipated add it into their milk feeds or if on solids with that.

I used mine to top up breastfeeding while waiting for milk to come in. Also, if you have complications like jaundice where feeding them is essential to flushing out their system, that colostrum will come in handy. It will get used I thr first couple of wks. I know what I expressed did plus more mls I expressed whilst in hospital
