5 month old, no poo for 5 days

Hi, what can I do, 5 month old hasn't pooed in 5 days. She normally goes once a day but absolutely nothing for 5 days. We have been doing bicycle legs and warm baths etc. She is crying on a night and pulling her legs up constantly, she is letting off (very smelly)

I thought maybe try her with some prunes but her to guess relex is still really strong so that wasn't happening. I gave her a bit of water thinking that might help but still nothing.

She is ebf, feeding every 2 hours during the day and since this has gone from 4/5 hrs over night to comfort feeding every 1/2 hours.

What else can I do to help her?

Have you sought medical advice from your GO/HV? Or as it's the weekend 111? As she seems to be in pain I wouldn't be leaving it any longer in your shoes.

We were advised 50/50 prune juice and cooled boiled water.

For our newborn EBF baby it was 30ml in total, given 5ml increments.

You might be told it’s normal for EBF babies to go for 10 days between poos.

This is only okay if not in pain/discomfort. As she is uncomfortable then it is a medical issue that needs a dr

Last message!

Don’t give water to EBF babies, under 6 months old. It messes with their electrolytes.

Only give prune juice on advice of dr.

My DD who is 7month stopped pooing every day around 4/5 months then is was less frequent every few days and was EBF, the nappies were much fuller.. this is normal.

But as above if causing obvious discomfort contact your health provider especially if you're unsure.

It's perfectly normal and unless she's in pain you don't actually need to do anything apart from prepare for the mother of all poonamis Wink
